ESCA CancerSupport & HOTBIN

HOTBIN – Helping a Great Cause in Swiss Romandie

No one should face cancer alone.  And with ESCA CancerSupport no-one has to. I have now volunteered with this wonderful organisation for 2 years. They provide free support services to anyone affected by cancer in the Swiss Romande region. Their services though free to clients requires funding and a major event is the Paddle for CancerSupport Dragon Boat Race, normally held in September on the Lac de Joux in Vaud. Sadly COVID-19 has led to the race being cancelled this year and I have decided to help with HOTBIN.

About ESCA CancerSupport

ESCA CancerSupport was first formed in 1999 by an American who was living and working in Geneva when he was diagnosed with cancer. Having difficulty expressing himself in French, Mr. Faulkner approached his counsellor with the idea of setting up a support group for the English-speaking community. A group of six members began meeting in a local bookstore.

Dedicated volunteers, working actively on cancer awareness campaigns and collaborating with the Geneva, Vaud and Swiss Cancer Leagues, began gaining support from local oncologists.  The news started to spread: help was available in English for cancer patients and carers, and services were free.

Today, ESCA CancerSupport has expanded enormously and includes professional counselling, peer support by trained and supervised volunteers, art therapy, mindfulness, yoga, Pilates and gym classes, as well as, breast cancer and bereavement support groups, specialised cancer-related workshops and more.   The services are in English but all nationalities are welcome. A CancerSupport Centre with trained volunteers and an information library welcomes visitors and provides a friendly and confidential space where they can find support.

With the generosity and fundraising efforts of the community, the highly appreciated support of major donors, and the hugely successful annual Paddle for CancerSupport Dragon Boat Festival, they continue to expand their cancer support network and offer help that is year-round, free of charge, and accessible to everyone.

How is HOTBIN going to help fundraise for ESCA CancerSupport?

When you purchase a HOTBIN with the promo code ESCACancerSupport, you are donating 15% of the purchase price to ESCA CancerSupport.  Your donation will help ESCA CancerSupport continue to offer its services for free.

You can always donate directly by going to www.cancersupport.ch.  Every little bit helps.

Why should I buy a HOTBIN?

HOTBIN is a hot composter taking all home and garden waste and creating compost. The easy to use 100 and 200 litre capacity HOTBINs are compact and occupy roughly the same space as a wheelie-bin. Steaming away at up to 60°c the HOTBIN speeds up your food and garden waste recycling producing compost in just 30-90 days.

So, please why not do your bit for this amazing charity and also help the environment and buy a HOTBIN and make a direct contribution to ESCA CancerSupport. Thank you.
